With the beautiful majestic Tororo rock in the background, day 1 of the Mileke Border 7s served up an exquisite outing of rugby.
Kyadondo 7s winners, Platinum Credit Heathens, registered 3 close wins to top group A and march into the quarters.

They survived late scares from all three games – against Tororo Crest, Rams and Buffaloes to match into Day 2. Invitational side Tororo Crest match into Day 2 as the runners up.
The table leaders, Stanbic Black Pirates, were the strongest winners of the day, registering comfortable wins all the way; 47-00 against the Njeru Hurricanes, 41-00 against Elgon Wolves and 24-07 against the Impis; with Impis finishing second.
The Rhinos, after impressing in Kyadondo 7s and claiming third, have a Border 7s Day 1 to forget as they were dumped out of the main cup and will now feature in the Challenge Cup.
The Barbarians were beneficiaries of a penalty against the KOBs to claim a walkover, before running riot against Rhinos, winning 27-00. The KOBs resurrected to win two games and make the main cup quarters.
Defending Champions, Jinja Hippos, made good work of Group D winning all their games to top the group, including getting one over their 2023 bogey side, Plascon Mongers.
In the main cup quarters, Platinum Credit Heathens have a date with the Mongers, their first meeting on the 2023 National 7s calendar.
