The State Minister for Sports in Uganda, Honorable Peter Ogwang, has directed the National Council of Sports to start the process of licencing Netball Uganda.
The minister was flagging off the Kansai Plascon-painted She Cranes to the Fast5 Netball World Series, which will take place in New Zealand from November 9 to 10.
While giving his remarks at the event held at AFCON 2027 Pamoja Offices on Saturday 2 November, Ogwang stated;

“My duty here is to flag off this team but before that, I have a few words, I congratulate Madam Uchanda and his entire Executive for having elected to run Netball Uganda.
“Now I direct NCS to start the process of giving back licence to the sport of netball.
“But getting you back we know what is in the past but this time round we are going watch keenly, we need proper accountability improper accountability has cost the sport from 1.5 billion to 300 million.
“I also call NCS to return netball among the priority Sports in Uganda because is the second in lifting Uganda Flag higher after Athletics and Also is the second best sport in Uganda behind football.”
Despite the long time taken for the team without competitive playing, the She Cranes moved out to hunt for the Series win as Captain Irene Eyeru stated.
“We are moving out to represent Uganda effectively, we have had great preparations to compete, Our Coaches, Bogere, Noordine and Umpire Mujabi have guided us well through preparations.”
At the event, Netball Uganda president Jocelyn Uchanda and Buganda region delegate were also present and they confirmed their belief in the team to perform well.
Having missed out on the 2023 tournament, Ugandan is determined to make a positive statement on return
The tournament will feature in round robin format and Uganda will face stiff competition from powerhouses like Australia, New Zealand, England, Jamaica, and South Africa.
