Vipers SC have appointed Belgian coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert as their new head coach, marking a fresh chapter for the Ugandan football giants as they prepare for a new season.

The club confirmed the news on Friday, July 18, through their official website, calling Minnaert a “massively experienced” addition to the technical bench.

Minnaert brings experience from across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Most recently, he led Fassell FC to a league title in Liberia. His CV includes stints at Libya’s Al-Ittihad Tripoli, AFC Leopards in Kenya, Rayon Sports in Rwanda, and Union Estepona CF in Spain.

Vipers hope his track record and global exposure will push them further, especially on the continental stage.

He joins a team already in form. John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza steered Vipers to a domestic double last season and will stay on as part of the technical team. Together with Minnaert, the trio is expected to bring a balance of local understanding and international tactics.

With pre-season just around the corner, all eyes will be on how Minnaert shapes this talented squad for both Uganda Premier League and CAF competition success.
