Miracle Eaglets ended their regular season on a high, beating Nabisunsa Girls 71-52 on Wednesday night at Lugogo Indoor Arena to secure a spot in the National Basketball League playoffs.
The Eaglets flew out of the gates with a 22-09 first-quarter lead and kept their grip on the game despite Nabisunsa’s second-quarter fightback, heading into halftime up 37-28.
Isabella Namugabo’s smooth floater closed the third quarter with the Eaglets in control at 57-44. In the fourth, they tightened their defense, limiting Nabisunsa to just eight points to wrap up a commanding 19-point win.
Winfred Akello led the way with 22 points, while Martha Nandutu added 15 and Mariam Namukwaya chipped in 10. The Eaglets dominated the boards with 53 rebounds, 12 more than their opponents.
Abifaith Musiimenta scored 11 for Nabisunsa, with Martha Bagaya and Martha Yikiru adding 10 each.
The win confirmed the Eaglets’ playoff place and sent a strong warning to the rest of the league.
Meanwhile, in the men’s division, Victoria University Crocs beat already-relegated KIU Titans 84-54, but missed out on the playoffs.
