Moving into the final round of the Buganda Masaza Cup group stage on September 7, Kyadondo is aiming for late qualification with a win against Buwekula in Mubende.
- Buwekula vs Kyadondo at Mubende NTC.
- Bulemeezi vs Bugerere at Kasana Luweero.
Being the only team out of the qualification places, a win alone doesn’t seem to be enough for the Kampala Metropolitan county, but they are also eager for the result from the other game of the Masengere group between Bulemeezi and Bugerere.
With the best chances for Kyadondo to advance to the knockout stage lying in finishing third in the Masengere group, Bugerere is not supposed to defeat Bulemeezi.
If Bugerere fails to beat Bulemeezi, and Kyadondo beats Buwekula, they will be in a better position to reach the quarterfinals as one of the best two number threes in the groups.
The qualification of both teams is directly tied to winning, but the most concerning scenario for Kyadondo is a Bugerere win, as it will mark the end of Kyadondo’s journey.
Aside from direct competition from Bugerere in the Masengere group, Kyadondo also has other chances to qualify for the quarterfinals, but in contention with Ssese, Busujju, and Kkooki.
- Busiro vs Ssese at Ssentema Ssaza ground.
- Busujju vs Buddu at Kakindu play ground.
- Kkooki vs Kyaggwe at Kasambya play ground.
In the ranking, Kyadondo is only ahead of Kkooki with 12 points and a 4-goal difference compared to Kkooki’s 12 points and negative three difference.
Busujju is also on 15 points with a one-goal difference, and Ssese is ahead with 15 points and zero difference.
As the standing reads, if Kyadondo finishes third in the Masengere group and Ssesse or Busujju falls short, Kyadondo shall qualify ahead of the Bulenga Group loser.
With both teams of the Bulange group losing and Kyadondo winning, Ssese will fall behind Kyadondo in the qualification battle.
Ssese is visiting Busiro on Sunday, September 7, at Ssentema Ssaza grounds, while Busujju will stand up against eliminated defending champions Buddu at Kakindu play ground.
In the Bulange group, Busujju is second with 15 points and a 1-goal difference, while Ssese is third-placed with 15 points without a goal difference.
- Buluuli vs Gomba at St. Lawrence Migyera.
With both teams winning and Buluuli failing to win, all three teams shall confirm their qualification to the Quarterfinals, with Buluuli reaching as one of the best number three.
The only possible number three in other groups which can do better than Buluuli if Buluuli fails to beat Gomba is Bugerere, if they beat Bulemeezi.
At this juncture, Buwekula, Kyaggwe, and Ssingo are already confirmed for qualification. Buluuli, Busujju, Mawokoto, Ssese, and Bugerere are in better shape to advance, as they only aim to win their closing matches.
Other fixtures:
- Ssingo vs Kabula at Mityana Ssaza ground.
- Butambala vs Mawogola at Kibibi SS.
- Buvuma vs Mawokoto.
