The Mr. and Miss Central Region Bodybuilding Championship is set to make a significant impact this year, not only as a key qualifier for the prestigious Mr. and Miss Uganda event but also as a tribute to the late East Africa bodybuilding champion, Aksam Kisekka.

Organizing secretary Kisakye Denis Trinity announced at the launch event at Mamerito Hotel, Bweyogerere, that a portion of the proceeds from the championship will be directed to Kisekka’s family. “We have decided to dedicate this event to our own Aksam Kisekka, who passed away in May. He left a wife and kids, and we will direct a share from the event to his family for support,” Kisakye stated.

Kisekka, a prominent Ugandan bodybuilder, had a 15-year career and was a two-time East Africa bantamweight champion. This charitable effort highlights the solidarity within the Uganda bodybuilding community.

The championship, which is expected to feature over 80 bodybuilders, is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, at UMA Show Ground, Lugogo. The event will include all categories, such as Bodybuilding, Physical Fitness, and Push-ups. A total prize fund of 10 million Ugandan Shillings is on offer, with the overall winner taking home a grand prize of 5 million Ugandan Shillings.

Upcoming star Martins Bagulli, who is making his debut at the Mr. Central Region show, expressed his determination to win. “I am preparing for the East Africa championship in Kenya, so I want to win here first to get ready for my shows,” he said.

This event promises to be a powerful display of strength and sportsmanship while providing crucial support to the family of a local sports hero.
