As KCCA FC prepares to host Soltilo Bright Stars FC on Matchday 21 of the Uganda Premier League, head coach Abdallah Mubiru has issued a stern warning to his players, saying there is no room for complacency.

Speaking ahead of the match, Mubiru emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and intensity, especially against a team fighting for survival.

“The message to the players is very clear. We do not have any room for complacency. We face a side that is fighting to survive relegation, and such sides are usually tricky. We can’t afford any more slip-ups, so we are treating this game very seriously,” Mubiru stated.

KCCA FC comes into the game in excellent form, having won their last three matches across all competitions. The 13-time league champions have been dominant, scoring 11 goals and conceding just once during this run. Their most recent league outing saw them edge UPDF FC 2-1, a result that boosted their title ambitions.

Additionally, KCCA FC will be encouraged by their previous meeting with Bright Stars FC, where they secured a narrow 1-0 victory in October 2024. However, Mubiru remains cautious and insists his team must stay sharp.

The KCCA FC boss also provided an update on the squad ahead of the encounter.

“We will not have Joel Sserunjogi due to suspension. However, Hassan Muhamud, Steven Munguchi, and Musitafa Mujuzi have all returned to full fitness and are available for selection. Gavin Kizito is back from national duty and will be available for selection. Teenager Brain Jjara is away on National Duty with the Uganda U17 National Team.”

These returns will provide KCCA FC with additional depth as they aim to extend their winning streak and strengthen their position in the league standings.

For Bright Stars FC, this match presents a significant challenge. The team has struggled throughout the season and is still searching for its first away victory. Their last league win came in December 2024 against UPDF FC, meaning they have gone eight consecutive games without maximum points.

Sitting in a precarious position on the table, Bright Stars FC will be desperate to turn their fortunes around. A victory against a high-flying KCCA FC side could provide a crucial boost in their fight to avoid relegation. However, their dismal away record will be a major concern heading into this fixture.

While KCCA aims to continue their strong form and remain in the title race, Bright Stars FC will be fighting for survival. The clash at Phillip Omondi Stadium promises to be a test of character for both teams.

With Mubiru’s warning loud and clear, KCCA FC will need to approach the game with full concentration to avoid any surprises.

On the other hand, Bright Stars FC will be looking to defy the odds and cause an upset.
