With the 2024/25 University Football League resuming this February, Makerere University Business School (MUBS) is set to face Muteesa 1 Royal University in an exciting opening match of the second round.

The game will take place on Tuesday, February 11, at Muteesa’s home ground in Masaka, and both teams are fully prepared for the challenge ahead.

In their first-round encounter, MUBS narrowly edged out Muteesa with a 1-0 win, thanks to a goal from Mbabazi Joe Worrick.

However, Muteesa will seek revenge in front of their home crowd, renowned for their aggressive and fast-paced attacking play.

Ahead of the clash, MUBS head coach Ali Zzinda expressed confidence in his team, noting that they are well-prepared for the game.

“We know the magnitude of the game and we’re ready. It’s a tough opponent, but we’ve been in similar situations before and know what it takes to succeed,” said Zzinda.

He highlighted the importance of experience, mentioning that while Muteesa is new to the league, they have players with experience in high-level competitions.

“We respect them, but we believe in our preparation and experience,” he concluded.

Captain Trevor Kawaisuka also weighed in, sharing his optimism for the match.

“The camp is well-motivated. We’ve been training for a few weeks, and the players are in good shape with no injuries. We’re ready for Tuesday,” said Kawaisuka.

He added that despite Muteesa’s strong playstyle, there is no pressure on MUBS.

“They may be newcomers, but football is played by 11 players, and we’ve been working hard to ensure we’re at our best.”

With six competitive groups, each team will be determined to make their mark as more exciting fixtures continue to flow in the coming days, including matches between St Lawrence University and YMCA on February 12, and Kampala University vs Gulu on February 13.

Other notable fixtures will see Makerere University play host to Ndejje University on February 15 while IUEA welcome Uganda Martyrs University on February 17.
