Lugazi FC has strengthened its technical bench ahead of the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season by appointing veteran coach Francis Mugerwa as Co-Coach.
He joins forces with the experienced Steven Bogere, following the departure of head coach Olivier Mbekeka, whose contract recently expired.
Mugerwa, a CAF A-licensed coach, has signed a one-year deal. He brings a wealth of experience from past roles at top-tier sides including Proline, Maroons, Onduparaka, Kitara, Arua Hill, Bright Stars, and a stint with Vipers SC during the 2020/21 season.
Speaking at his unveiling, Mugerwa expressed enthusiasm about joining Lugazi FC and reuniting with Bogere.
“Steven is a longtime friend, and Lugazi is a big project. I love working with young players, this was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down,” he said.
He promised a collaborative approach focused on youth development, exciting football, and building a winning culture.
“We want to make Lugazi FC Stadium a fortress and give fans football they enjoy,” Mugerwa added.
The club sees the new coaching setup as key to competing strongly this season.
