Uganda A assistant coach Roger Mukasa praised his young team’s character after a tense three-run win over Namibia A in the Pearl of Africa T20 Series on Wednesday at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe.
Defending a modest 127 for 8, Uganda A’s bowlers held firm. Kenneth Waiswa starred at the death with 3 for 28, while Mathew Musinguzi (1/14) and Siraje Nsubuga (1/25) kept things tight in the middle. Namibia A fell just short at 124 for 7, levelling the series 1-1.
“These games teach pressure handling,” Mukasa said. “I’m proud of the boys’ fight and execution. This is the future of Cricket Uganda.”
Namibia’s Jan Balt led with the ball, taking 2 for 16, but Uganda A’s gritty partnerships made the difference.
Mukasa urged for more international fixtures to help young players grow and close the gap with the senior team.
“This kind of exposure is key,” he added.
The win highlighted Uganda’s growing bench strength and the potential coming through the ranks.
