Home Cricket Cricket Cranes Mukasa dropped as Otwani makes squad for Jersey trip

Opening batsman Arnold Otwani returned as Uganda Cricket Association announced Cricket Cranes’ 14-man squad for the final leg of the ICC Cricket Challenge League B Tournament.

An injury to captain Brian Masaba opened up a slot for the wicket keeper who has been getting decent figures in the warm up games building to the big stage.

Uganda will miss the leadership of Masaba but coach Laurence Mahatlane is a happy man following the return of first Vice Captain Deus Muhumuza from injury to lead the Cranes.

Muhumuza’s come back shortened former captain Roger Mukasa‘s return to the fold, only playing one tournament before facing the exit door again.

The tournament is a pathway for the 50-Over World Cup 2023 in India. After the first round in Oman in 2019 and second one here in Kampala in 2022, Uganda sits top of the table.

On 16 points, Cricket Cranes are ahead of Hong Kong in second place by a point with Jersey completing the podium on 14 in a winner takes it all battle.

Uganda will start its campaign against Jersey next Friday in an afternoon encounter at the Farmer grounds.

FULL TEAM:
Deus Muhumuza (Captain), Kenneth Waiswa (VC), Frank Nsubuga, Ronak Patel, Dinesh Nakrani, Riazat Ali Shah, Henry Ssenyondo, Cosmos Kyewuta, Juma Miyagi, Frank Akankwasa, Fred Achellam, Bilal Hassan, Arnold Otwani, Simon Ssesazi.
