President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has earned continental recognition after receiving the CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2025 CAF Awards in Rabat, Morocco.

Museveni was honoured alongside Kenya’s President William Ruto and Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan for their remarkable contribution to the growth of African football.

The award celebrates leaders who have strengthened football structures, supported key programmes, and pushed the sport forward across the region.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe applauded the three East African leaders for their consistent backing of football, saying their commitment has helped build a stronger foundation for the game on the continent.

In Uganda, Museveni’s focus on infrastructure, youth development, and support for national teams has played a big role in the sport’s steady rise.

The honour also highlights the growing partnership between Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania under the Pamoja banner.

After successfully hosting CHAN 2024, the trio is now intensifying preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which they will co-host.
