Mustapha Kizza has taken the next step in his career, completing a move from Uganda’s NEC FC to Nairobi United in a transfer that has stirred interest across East African football.
The 26 year-old left back arrives in Nairobi with a strong reputation and at a time when the club is reshaping its squad to compete both in the Kenya Premier League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
For Nairobi United, Kizza is a player expected to add quality, experience and balance on the left side.
Born in Kibuli, Kizza featured for Maroons but rose through the KCCA FC academy, where his pace, attacking runs and set piece delivery made him stand out early.
That form earned him opportunities beyond Uganda, including spells with CF Montréal in Major League Soccer and Portugal’s FC Arouca.
He later returned home via Express FC and Telecom Egypt SC before joining NEC FC in July 2025 ahead of the club’s first continental campaign.
On the international stage, Kizza has not been a regular but was once a reliable figure for the Uganda Cranes, valued for his energy, composure and ability to contribute at the left end of the pitch something he hopes to rebuild after this move.
Those traits are exactly what Nairobi United hope will strengthen their push on multiple fronts this season.
The move carries an added edge. Earlier in the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers, Kizza faced Nairobi United while playing for NEC, troubling their defence with his delivery and forward runs. Now, he joins the same side he tested just months ago.
Club officials have pointed to Kizza’s signing as part of a wider plan to mix proven internationals with emerging talent.
As Nairobi United prepare for demanding league fixtures and their ongoing continental journey, attention will turn to how quickly the Ugandan international settles in at club that already features a Ugandan in Shafic Ssebyala.
