Muteesa 1 Royal University claimed their inaugural victory in the Pepsi University Football League (UFL), defeating Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) 3-0 in Masaka on October 17, 2024.

The Buganda Kingdom-based university, a newcomer to the league, displayed impressive form throughout the match, dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities.

Geoffrey Sserugo opened the scoring for Muteesa 1 with a spectacular goal in the 34th minute. The team’s momentum continued as they doubled their lead before halftime, with Francis Baale heading in Ali Lubwama’s well taken free-kick.

MUST struggled to create any significant chances throughout the game, allowing Muteesa 1 to comfortably control the match.

In the second half, the hosts sealed the victory with a third goal in the 86th minute when Ibrahim Mubiru found the back of the net, after good play from Patrick Busuulwa.

The victory lifted Muteesa 1 to second place in the UFL standings, just one point behind leaders MUBs.

The league action continues on October 18th with Kabale University aiming for their first win of the season against UCU in Kabale.
