- FUFA Women’s Cup | Semifinal First Leg
- Kawempe Muslim 1-0 St Noa Girls
Jovia Nakagolo proved to be the difference once again as Kawempe Muslim edged past St. Noa Girls FC 1-0 in the first leg of their FUFA Women’s Cup semifinal clash on Thursday.
Playing at the Valley Ground, Nakagolo’s clinical strike in the 34th minute mirrored her match-winning performance in the quarterfinals against She Corporates, underscoring her growing reputation as Kawempe’s go-to forward in crucial fixtures.
The tall and pacey striker latched onto a perfectly timed through ball, outpacing the St. Noa defense before coolly slotting a low drive beyond goalkeeper Lillian Nakirya.
The goal sent the home crowd into a frenzy and ultimately proved decisive.
St. Noa Girls FC mounted a spirited response in the second half, pushing forward in search of an equalizer.
However, Kawempe’s disciplined and resolute defending frustrated the visitors, preserving the slim advantage heading into the return leg.
The two sides will renew their rivalry on Sunday at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium with Kawempe looking to protect their lead and secure a place in the final.
In the other semifinal tie, Amus College will host Uganda Martyrs on the same day. Amus carry a 3-1 advantage from the first leg and will be keen to finish the job on home soil.
