Uganda’s table tennis star Jemimah Nakawala was been named Most Improved Player (female) at the African Senior Championships, capping a historic campaign that saw Uganda qualify for the 2026 World Table Tennis Championships (WTTC) in London.

Nakawala was instrumental in Uganda’s stunning victories over South Africa, Tunisia, and Nigeria, powering the team’s remarkable run to the final in Tunis.
Her energy and consistency reflected the spirit of a squad rewriting Uganda’s sporting story.
For the first time ever, Uganda’s women’s team, featuring Parvin Nangonzi, Jemimah Nakawala, and Judith Mirembe under coach Paul Mutambuze secured a place among the world’s elite.
Their qualification came through a new format that rewarded consistency and resilience, highlighted by key wins against South Africa and DR Congo.
This achievement is more than a ticket to London. It marks the rise of Ugandan table tennis, the result of years of quiet hard work, belief and persistence.
