The curtains came down on the 2024/25 FUFA Women Super League in spectacular fashion on Tuesday afternoon as Kampala Queens were officially crowned league champions following a tense 1-1 draw against She Maroons at the Phillip Omondi Stadium.
But beyond the celebrations and medals, the day belonged to the league’s standout performers Shamirah Nalugya, Resty Kobusobozi and Daisy Nakaziro who etched their names in Ugandan women’s football history with dominant individual campaigns.
- Nalugya leads the royal march
Midfield dynamo Shamirah Nalugya capped a stellar season with a decisive performance on the final day, coolly converting a 28th-minute penalty to give Kampala Queens the lead.

Awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season, Nalugya’s consistency, creativity and leadership from midfield proved pivotal as the Queens marched to their second league title and their first under new head coach Asefa Firew Haile Gabreal.
- Kobusobozi’s scoring spree
While Kampala celebrated, Lady Doves’ forward Resty Kobusobozi quietly conquered the scoring charts.
With 17 goals to her name, she clinched the Golden Boot, ahead of Kawempe Muslim’s Agnes Nabukenya.
Her lethal finishing ensured Lady Doves remained competitive throughout the season, and her impact was further underlined as the team also scooped the Fair Play Award.
Kobusobozi’s scoring prowess was a masterclass in consistency and her presence up front was a constant threat to opposition defenders.
- Nakaziro’s wall between the sticks
Completing the trio of top honors, Kampala Queens’ goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro was named Best Goalkeeper of the season, having kept an astonishing 16 clean sheets in 20 appearances.

Despite being beaten by a spectacular equalizer from She Maroons’ Fiona Atono in the 71st minute on the final day, Nakaziro’s reliability between the posts laid the foundation for Kampala Queens’ defensive dominance throughout the campaign.
- A champion’s campaign
Kampala Queens finished the season atop the table with 49 points from 22 matches, losing just once.
Their draw on crowning day did little to dampen the celebrations as fireworks and cheers filled the Lugogo sky, marking a triumphant end to a brilliant season.
The team’s coronation also marked a dream debut for Ethiopian tactician Asefa Firew Haile Gabreal who transformed the side into a well-oiled unit and reinstated their status as Uganda’s queens of football.
- Relegation and promotion
While Kampala Queens basked in glory, the season concluded in heartbreak for Wakiso Hill WFC and Tooro Queens, who were relegated to the FUFA Women Elite League.
Their places in the top flight will be taken by St Noa and Asubo Ladies, who earned promotion after impressive campaigns in the second tier.
