Ugandan midfielder Shamirah Nalugya made a strong first impression on her debut for FC Minsk Women, helping the team reach the Belarusian Women’s Cup final after a dramatic win over Dinamo Brest on Wednesday, July 16.
Nalugya, who recently signed a one-year deal with the Belarusian side, played the entire match and stood out with her calm control in midfield.
She created chances, pushed forward with intent, and tested the goalkeeper several times in a tight 1-1 draw.
In the penalty shootout, Nalugya confidently scored FC Minsk’s final kick before Dinamo Brest missed their last, handing Minsk a 5-4 win and a spot in the final.
It was the first time Dinamo Brest managed to score against FC Minsk in their last six meetings, but Minsk extended their unbeaten run in the fixture to six games.
The defending champions will now face either Dinamo BGU or Zorka BDU in the final.
