The Namuwongo Blazers completed a perfect double over the KIU Titans after a scintillating 76-58 victory on Friday at the YMCA Comprehensive Institute court.
Following a 74-65 victory in the first round, Namuwongo quickly got off the block and were 23-13 up after the first quarter.
But, KIU crawled back to trail 35-31 at halftime. The Titans, thanks to back-to-back threes from Edgar Munaaba opened the third quarter with an 8-1 run to lead by two points.
But a quick response by the Nam Blazers, spiced up by Paul Odongo’s deep three and Daniel Monoja’s lay up saw KIU’s lead short lived.
And the Blazers never looked back winning the third quarter 19-14 and eventually winning the game by 18 points to silence a cheerful section of KIU Titans fans.
Amisi Saidi scored 16 points, Richard Ongom added 10 points while Daniel Monoja contributed a double of 10 points and as many rebounds in a player of the match performance.
The Blazers who missed Kenyan duo of Kenneth Wachira and Ariel Okall, had Chris Omanye contribute four assists in the win.
Stanley Mugerwa made his return to KIU Titans with a team high 12 points and 9 rebounds while Munaaba added 11 points.
It’s win number 11 for Nam Blazers who have lost four games this season on the other hand, KIU Titans have won nine, lost seven.
