- Namibia won by 93 runs
Uganda’s Cricket Cranes were handed a tough lesson on Monday, losing by 93 runs to Namibia in their first warm-up for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier.
Namibia, batting first at Harare Sports Club, powered to 205 for six in 20 overs. Malan Kruger cracked 36 off 18 balls, and JJ Smit finished unbeaten on 58 with five sixes. Ruben Trumpelmann added a quick 32 off nine to seal a huge total.
Uganda’s bowlers struggled. Cosmas Kyewuta took 2 for 61, Alpesh Ramjani 2 for 27, and Juma Miyagi 1 for 32. Only veteran Frank Nsubuga kept things tight, conceding 12 runs in two overs.
Uganda’s chase collapsed early at 27 for 3. Ramjani (18), Raghav Dhawan (16) and Riazat Ali Shah (14) offered brief resistance, but Namibia’s attack led by Alexander Volschenk (2 for 12) and Smit (1 for 8) limited Uganda to 112 for eight.
With their opening qualifier against hosts Zimbabwe on Friday, Uganda will look to regroup in their final warm-up against Malawi on Wednesday.
