Namuwongo Blazers Basketball Club CEO, Daniel Muttu Obol, has launched a scathing attack on the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA), accusing the body of hypocrisy, favoritism, and poor leadership that he says are crippling the sport.

Responding to an Observer article titled “FUBA Hypocrisy”, Muttu said the issues raised reflect “a daily reality” for clubs, players, and fans fighting for a better basketball environment.

“For too long, FUBA has operated with double standards, selective enforcement of rules, and little transparency,” Muttu said.

“This culture of hypocrisy is unacceptable. Ugandan basketball needs credible, accountable, and visionary leadership.”

He cited inconsistent rulings favoring certain teams, questionable decisions, and a lack of professionalism, warning that these problems are stunting the National Basketball League’s growth locally and internationally.

Muttu urged FUBA to “come clean” on governance inconsistencies, ensure equal treatment for all clubs and players, and commit to genuine reforms. He warned that failure to act could endanger the sport’s future.

“The Nam Blazers will not stay silent when the integrity of Ugandan basketball is at stake,” he said. “It’s time for accountability. It’s time for reform.”

Meanwhile, the NBL playoff bracket is set. Top-seeded Nam Blazers will face eighth-seed RezLife Saints next month, setting up an intense postseason battle.
