- JT Jaguars 71-81 Namuwongo Blazers
Namuwongo Blazers delivered a commanding performance to defeat JT Jaguars 81-71 in a heated National Basketball League (NBL) showdown at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday night.
The Jaguars started strongly, with Tong Obde’s layup closing the first quarter and giving his side a 19-15 lead.
However, the tide turned in the second quarter when Tonny Drileba sank two crucial three-pointers, helping the Blazers overturn the deficit and head into halftime with a narrow 41-38 advantage.
In the third period, Namuwongo maintained their momentum. A driving layup by Aaron Eboyu brought the Jaguars within reach, but the Blazers’ cohesive offense extended their lead to 65-57 by the end of the quarter.
Despite a spirited fight from the Jaguars, the Blazers held firm and closed out the game with a 10-point cushion.
Innocent Ochera led the Blazers with 20 points, while Drileba and James Okello chipped in with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Their balanced attack proved too much for the Jaguars, who leaned heavily on Eboyu’s 22 points and Ian Lubwama’s double-digit contribution.
The win showcases the Blazers’ growing consistency under coach Stephen Nyeko while JT Jaguars, led by coach Sudi Ulanga will be left reflecting on missed opportunities despite a competitive effort.
