Nandago’s Strike Makes the Difference

The match was a tense affair with both teams creating opportunities. Agnes Nabukenya nearly broke the deadlock for Kawempe with a free-kick that rattled the crossbar in the first half.

After the restart, She Maroons also threatened, with Kawempe’s right back Samalie Nakacwa making a crucial goal-line clearance in the 53rd minute.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 77th minute when Hadijah Nandago capitalized on a long ball from Nakacwa. She went on a solo run and lobbed the She Maroons goalkeeper to put the hosts in the lead.

Despite creating chances throughout the match, She Maroons failed to convert, leaving Kawempe to claim all three points.

Coaches Reflect on the Match

Following the win, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC assistant coach Moses Nkata commended his team’s execution, highlighting their preparation for a tough opponent.

Conversely, She Maroons head coach Simon Peter Ochuka expressed disappointment with his team’s inability to capitalize on their chances.

“We played well, we deserved something from the game. We got chances and failed to utilize them and the hosts got only one chance and used it to win the game,” said Ochuka who also emphasized a focus on finishing in upcoming matches.
