Record Masaza Cup winners Gomba FC are still searching for their first victory of the season, but coach Nasibu Mukasa has promised fans a dramatically improved performance. Gomba will host Busiro FC in a crucial return leg match this Sunday, August 10, at Kabulasoke PTC Stadium.
In a direct message to fans, Coach Mukasa said, “I tell all Gomba fans that tomorrow will be different. The team we have is improved and ready to win.”
Team captain Harbert Onen echoed the call for support, stating, “I invite our fans to come in large numbers against Busiro. Although it will not be easy, this is our chance to get our first victory this season.”
The Challenge Facing Gomba
After five matches in the first round of the group stage, Gomba sits at the bottom of the table with only two points, coming from draws against Buluuli and Busiro.
The team has lost three matches, leaving them three points behind their opponents, Busiro, who have one win and two draws this season.
Despite their impressive history, which includes five successful Masaza Cup titles, Gomba failed to qualify from the group stage last season.
They are now facing a similar challenge. Starting the reverse fixtures, they are eight points behind Bulange group leaders Ssese and must win all five of their remaining games to have a chance at progressing to the next stage.
In other Bulange group matches this Sunday, Buddu will host Buluuli at Kitovu Sports Arena, while Busujju will take on Ssese at Kakindu Stadium.
