Uganda Netball Federation hosted players, officials and well-wishers to a glamorous awards gala at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
Attended by a couple of dignitaries led by State Minister for Sports Hon. Hamson Obua, the event was colourful one compared to previous ones.
Back then, stories of guests missing food and soda would headline the annual awards gala. The dressing of most guests was often sickening, to say the least.
Weyonje Netball Club’s goal defender Shakirah Nassaka was named the Best Female Player of the Season.
The top gong comes with travel tickets for two and shs1m cash from Pastor Aloysius Bujingo’s good friend, Suzan Makula.
On the other hand, Bashir Matovu of SMASH Netball Club scooped the Best Male Player of the Season.
Well, the only undoing here was Matovu not being lucky in bagging a plane ticket and some cash yet Netball is a sport discipline for all. The discrimination of the sexes was all too loud.
There was a musical interlude where Geosteady, King Saha and Mad Rat and Chico performed.
The night was hosted by comedian Patrick Salvador Idringi.
