On Friday, November 3rd, the most competitive National Open Pool Championship Grand Finale ever will hold its live draws at 10am at Tickles and Giggles in Kiwatule, Uganda.
A Time Tournament
All matches in the tournament will be played on time, and the player in the lead at the end of each session will be declared the winner. If players are tied at the end of time, a Speed Pool penalty shootout will determine the winner.
The Draws
In the Ladies’ draw, the top 4 seeded players cannot face each other until the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Seed 1 will play Seed 4 and Seed 2 will play Seed 3; if they all make it that far.
The rest of the players will be drawn randomly. The defending champion is seeded 6th and will be part of the random draw.
In the Men’s draw, the top 8 seeded players cannot face each other until the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, Seed 1 will play Seed 8, Seed 2 will play Seed 7, Seed 3 will play Seed 6, and Seed 4 will play Seed 5; if they all make it that far. The rest of the 120 players will be drawn randomly.
The Most Competitive Grand Finale Ever
Unlike previous editions of the National Open, there have been very few surprises in the qualifiers this year. Only two of the usual suspects, Alfred Gumikiriza and Humphrey Nsubuga, have failed to qualify.
Elsewhere, the big names have qualified in most corners of the country. Since the tournament was last played in 2018, a number of new faces have come on the scene, and they are all at the grand finale.
The New Cars
The two new cars that will be awarded to the winners of the tournament will be paraded for the first time at the live draws.
Grand finale is scheduled for 11th November 2023.
