The stage is set for a thrilling showdown at the 2024 National Open Pool Championship, scheduled for this Saturday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
A total of 128 skilled pool players, both male and female, will battle it out for the coveted title and two brand-new Mark X Toyota cars. In recent years, the car token has become the norm.
The draw for the tournament was conducted at Adi’s Spot in Kireka, with 64 players set to battle in 32 matches in both the men’s and women’s categories.
For the players to smile all the way to the prize bracket, which is the round of 16, they have to win at least two matches.
There will be no lunch break this time round but players not on the table by lunch time will be urged to go and eat while others continue to play. The games will be timed and a number of 24 tables will be used.
Defending Champion Rukia Naiga is determined to retain her title and has been training rigorously to stay ahead of the competition. “I am ready and fit to defend my title. I have trained hard and one of the things I have added to my game play collection, is managing pressure,” she stated.
