The National Pool Open Championship, one of the most popular sporting events in Uganda, is set to return on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Tickles and Giggles Restaurant in Makindye.

The Open will feature over 130 players that will be drawn against each other, with the exception of the top eight seeds in the men’s category and the top four seeds in the women’s category.

The defending champion in the ladies’ section, Rita Niinsima, is seeded sixth and will therefore be involved in the opening rounds.

One of the seeded players is Marion Kisakye, Rasheeda, Mutesi, Rukia Naiga, and Victoria Namuyanja as the top four seeds.

The top seeds in the men’s section include Ibrahim Kayanja, Kenneth Odong, Glorious Sennyonjo, Ibrahim Sejjemba, Mansoor Bwanika (the defending champion), Habib Ssebuguzi, Joseph Kasozi, and Yudah Ssembuuzi.

A few notable players will miss out on this edition of the tournament after failing to make it out of the qualifiers. One such player is Alfred Gumisiriza, who won the competition two times in a row in 2011 and 2012.

As always, the grand prize for the National Pool Open Championship is a car. Two cars, a Toyota Raum for the Ladies winner and a Toyota Mark X for the Men.
