The thrill and drama of Kabaddi are set to take over as 24 schools clash in the 2025 National Secondary Schools Kabaddi Championship. The 5th edition of this exciting tournament will be held at Kabalega Secondary School in Masindi from August 23rd to 28th, 2025.
This full-contact sport is a test of skill, speed, and strategic thinking. A lone raider enters the opponents’ territory to tag them and escape, while the defending team works to pin them down.
A total of 44 teams, including both boys’ and girls’ squads from each participating school, are ready to compete. This year’s championship promises intense action and strategic showdowns as schools vie for the coveted top spots.
Among the confirmed participants are last year’s medalists from the championship held at Kyadondo Secondary School. Matuga High School, the reigning boys’ champion, will be back to defend their title after defeating hosts Kyadondo SS in a gripping final. Mulusa Academy Wobulenzi, who took home the bronze medal, will also be competing, hoping to reclaim their former glory.
In the girls’ category, Kololo High School returns as the reigning champion, having beaten Kyadondo SS in the 2024 final. Dynamic SS Sonde, the bronze medalist, will also be looking to climb the ranks.
History-making teams to watch include Mulusa Academy Wobulenzi and Matuga High School, who are tied with two wins each in the boys’ category since the championship began. In the girls’ competition, Kololo High School is the most successful team with two wins. St. Peter’s Kungu and Noah’s Ark have each won one title, making them formidable contenders as well.
