Peter Cheng produced a strong performance, but Sommet still fell 66-60 to City Oilers in a National Basketball League game at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday night.
Cheng finished with a double double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, fighting hard in the paint as Sommet tried to keep up with the record champions.
City Oilers struck first when Landry Ndikumana opened the scoring with a three pointer in the opening minute. Joseph Chuma responded for Sommet as the teams settled into a tight first quarter.

Neither side created clear separation early on. Isaac Athuai capped the opening period with a fadeaway layup to leave the score tied at 15-15.
City Oilers began to gain control in the second quarter. They moved the ball better, created cleaner looks and stretched Sommet’s defence to take a four-point lead into halftime.
After the break, Ndikumana again fired from downtown to spark the Oilers. The champions followed with a quick 5-0 run and increased the tempo of the game.
They maintained the pressure and pushed the lead to nine points heading into the final quarter.
Sommet mounted a late push in the final period, with Cheng leading the charge, but they could only cut the deficit to six by the final buzzer.
Ndikumana and Titus Lual scored 14 points each for City Oilers, while Fayed Baale added 11.
