2026 National Basketball League | Women | Friday February 6,
- JT Lady Jaguars 74-29 Pearl Queensย
JT Lady Jaguars sent an early statement in the 2026 National Basketball League, cruising past newcomers Pearl Queens 74โ29 in Fridayโs season opener at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
Carrying momentum from last seasonโs playoff final run, the Lady Jaguars wasted no time showing the gap between experience and a side new to the top tier, handing the former Division One champions a tough introduction to elite basketball.
Pearl Queens briefly struck first through Rosiana Mungwapaโs layup, but the response was swift. Brenda Kayaga knocked down a three pointer and added from the line as the Jaguars raced into a 17โ6 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Queens showed some fight in the second period, scoring nine points, but the Jaguarsโ discipline and intensity kept them firmly in control. By halftime, the lead had stretched to 23 points.
Any lingering hope of a comeback vanished after the break. Aziida Nabayungaโs three-pointer highlighted another dominant spell as the Jaguars pushed their advantage to 33 points heading into the final quarter. From there, it was all one-way traffic.
Pearl Queens managed just five points in the last quarter as JT Lady Jaguars sealed a commanding 45-point win, laying down an early marker in the title race.
Kayaga led all scorers with 17 points, while Mary Priscillar Nambogo added 12. Mungwapa scored 13 points for Pearl Queens, and Jane Chisom fought hard on debut with 11 rebounds.
The Womenโs NBL continues on Saturday, February 7, at the Kira Den. Newcomers Victoria She Crocs face Miracle Eaglets at 10am, before KCCA Leopards take on defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins at midday.
