2026 National Basketball League | Women | Sunday February 8,
- Angels 29-73 UCU Lady Canons
Matrina Anyango set the early pace and Sylvia Nantongo added calm control as UCU Lady Canons marked their 2026 National Basketball League match with a strong 73–29 win over Angels at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday morning.
Anyango wasted no time, scoring four quick points to spark a fast start that left Angels on the back foot.
By the time the visitors got on the board, UCU were already in charge, opening a 13-point gap and closing the first quarter comfortably ahead at 17–6.
Nantongo then took over with composed finishing as the Lady Canons tightened their grip.
Angels showed a brief response in the second quarter, scoring 11 points, but they were outplayed across the court. At halftime, UCU held a commanding 21-point lead.
Any faint hope of a comeback disappeared after the break. UCU’s defence smothered Angels, who managed just six points in the third quarter as the lead ballooned to 33.
The final quarter was routine. UCU slowed the game, moved the ball well and punished every mistake to seal a dominant 44-point victory.
Anyango led all scorers with 13 points, Nantongo added 10, and they were the only players to reach double figures. Angels had no such contribution on a tough day.
Neither side shot well from long range, with Angels making just four of 29, three point attempts and UCU five of 28, but the Lady Canons’ control elsewhere made the difference.
Elsewhere in the women’s league, KIU Rangers edged Nabisunsa 66–61, while UPDF Lady Tomahawks beat Magic Stormers 51–41.
