National Basketball League | Women | Wednesday April 1

  • Magic Stormers 68-52 Miracle Eaglets

Magic Stormers did not need to be flashy just consistent as they beat Miracle Eaglets 68–52 at RezLife Grounds in Lubowa on Wednesday evening.

The game started messy, with both sides missing chances and fighting for rebounds. Kur Ajah quickly made her presence felt, chasing every loose ball and giving the Stormers second chances. The Eaglets briefly led through Lina Koul Khor, but that didn’t last.

Joy Nekesa Mupalia’s steal and finish settled the Stormers, and from there, they grew into the game.

Eve Grace Namuli and Charity Lamaro added key points, while Ajah controlled the paint and even stepped out to hit a three. By the end of the first quarter, the Stormers had a 21–14 lead.

The second quarter followed a similar pattern. The Eaglets tried to respond, with Prosper Anyine showing early intent, but the Stormers stayed calm.

Sekuye Ornela drove the tempo, creating chances and forcing turnovers. Ajah dominated inside, scoring and drawing fouls, while Nyachwo Owor and Auma Angela added important baskets.

Despite efforts from Isabella Namugabo and Yaweh Sera Precious, the Eaglets struggled with turnovers and missed chances. Stormers took a 40–27 lead into halftime.

After the break, the Eaglets showed some fight. Caroline Nakato scored from the line, and Akello Winnifred worked hard inside.

But every time they tried to close the gap, the Stormers responded. Mupalia led that response, combining smart drives and free throws to keep the lead safe.

By the end of the third quarter, the Stormers were still firmly ahead at 59–43.

The final quarter was more about control than excitement. Stormers slowed the game down, relied on their defense, and kept winning the battles on the boards.

Ajah remained dominant under the rim, while Mupalia and Ornela added steady points.

The Eaglets had moments, including a late basket from Namugabo, but they couldn’t shift the momentum.

Ajah finished with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, leading a balanced Stormers side. Mupalia and Ornela each scored 10 points.

Nakato led the Eaglets with nine points in a game where they struggled to keep up over four quarters.

Elsewhere, UCU Lady Canons beat Nabisunsa 80–46 in Lugogo, while JKL Lady Dolphins defeated KIU Rangers 68–47 at YMCA.
