For the first time since 2012, the UCU Lady Canons will not be in the NBL finals, thanks to the JKL Lady Dolphins.
The Lady Dolphins swept the UCU Lady Canons 3-0 in a best-of-five series, securing game three on a 75-65 win at Wandegeya.
Despite being 38-37 down at the half, Brenda Ekone lifted the Dolphins in the third, throwing flames from beyond the arc, to register a 26-15 scoring third quarter.
It was another marvellous Hope Akello night, notching a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Rita Imanishimwe and Brenda Ekone scored 17 and 16 points, respectively. Flavia Oketcho was in her supplier mode best with 8 assists.
The Lady Dolphins must go through the KIU Rangers if they hope to win their third crown.
The KIU Rangers defeated JT Lady Jaguars 3-0 in a best-of-five series to advance to their first-ever NBL Finals appearance.
The Rangers were dominant from tip-off and kept all Jaguars scorers below double digits, with the latter’s top scorers (Sarafina Drichuru and Brenda Kayaga) all accruing 9 points.
Rose Amaniyo finished the game with 18 points and 18 rebounds. Sharon Kirabo collected 14 points on the road to the finals.
