KIU Rangers pulled off a statement 58-53 victory over the ladies’ National Basketball League leaders JT Lady Jaguars at the YMCA Court on Wednesday.
The Rangers made their intentions clear right from the start and battled with the Jaguars in every quarter of the game.
The Jaguars, who had won six games on the bounce, were extremely loose with the ball, and in turn, had their opponents punish them, with KIU scoring 22 points on the transition.
Headed into the final quarter, it was the Jaguars who held a two-point lead, but they suffered a collapse late on.
The Rangers were inspired by impressive shows from Diana Letaru and Ines Kanyamunza, who scored 16 points apiece.
On the other hand, Sarah Ageno put up a double-double of 18 points and 16 points, in a losing effort for the Jaguars.
It was the third victory in succession for the Rangers and will look to push it further as they take on Nabisunsa Girls in their next encounter.
Meanwhile, JT Lady Jaguars will take on giants JKL Lady Dolphins on Friday in a game that promises fireworks.
