KIU Titans continued their excellent recent form as they beat UCU Canons 73-55 in the men’s National Basketball League on Friday at YMCA Court, Wandegeya.

Following a good start from the Canons as they led the opening quarter 15-13, the Titans got back energized in the second quarter which they won 20-09.

And, they didn’t look back from then on, eventually winning the game by an 18-point difference.

It was also perfect revenge for the Titans as they lost the first-round tie 68-69, a game that was a hugely close contest.

In a winning effort, Denis Balungu managed a game-high 20 points, adding nine rebounds on an evening to remember.

Also, Amisi Saidi Danny had 19 points and 9 rebounds while Edgar Munaaba contributed 9 points and 13 rebounds.

For the Mukono side, Peter Sifuma’s 17-point and 18-rebound double-double was in vain, and the same can be said of Jerry Kayanga and Jimmy Otim’s 11 points apiece.

The result made it 11 victories in 13 games for KIU Titans, who are the only side trying to mount a challenge against the City Oilers.
