Eight-time National Basketball League champions City Oilers didn’t need to be at their brilliant best, as they dispatched off Nam Blazers 72-52 at the MTN Arena Lugogo on Friday.
Despite a bit of a contest in the early stages of the opening quarter, the Oilers got the stride on as they won it 23-14.
By halftime, the margin had grown to 14 points as the Oilers stood at 41-27 before it stretched to 16 by the end of the third quarter (53-37).
Tonny Drileba was in unforgiving and ruthless mode as he managed a triple-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Enabu scored a game-high 17 points while Titus Lual added 10 points and 12 rebounds on a triumphant evening for the Oilers.
Three other Oilers stars had double figures including Fayed Baale (11 points) James Okello (10) and Ivan Muhwezi (10).
In a losing effort for Nam Blazers, Micheal Makiadi was superb as he put up a double-double of 12 points and 21 rebounds. Paul Odongo added 14 points.
