  • City Oilers 62-79 UCU Canons

The UCU Canons powered past the City Oilers with a fourth-quarter surge to claim a 79-62 victory in a heated NBL Men’s 2025 showdown at the YMCA court in Kampala.

Both teams traded blows early on, with the first quarter ending deadlocked at 16-all. The Canons gradually pulled away, edging the second (18-13) and third quarters (18-17), before erupting with a decisive 27-16 fourth quarter that sealed the game.

The Canons’ big men made a huge impact on the glass and the scoreboard. Joel Kayiira led the way with a dominant double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds while Alier Pech Lier Jongroor matched his effort with 12 points and 12 rebounds of his own. Guard Flore Dushime added a steady 13 points and 5 rebounds to help steady the offense.

Oilers, though traditionally a powerhouse, struggled to find consistent scoring beyond veteran Ben Komakech who led the team with 17 points.

Edgar Munaba chipped in with 13 points and 5 rebounds but the rest of the squad fell short against UCU’s late-game pressure.
