An on-court protest by the UPDF Tomahawks team was the biggest highlight of Wednesday’s National Basketball League.

Just after the tipoff, UPDF players opposed the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA)’s refusal to allow them to field David Opolot and Ferdinand Odama.

The players in question were suspended for indiscipline in April, served the bans, and played again before Wednesday.

However, in a sudden turn of events, FUBA yet again stopped them to play, over yet-to-be-confirmed reasons.

Meanwhile, later the players were permitted to play before Our Saviour pulled off a 60-53 win, their second victory of the season.

They were inspired by Kenneth Mesho and Moses Mugisha. Mesho made 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Mugisha managed 12 points.

Meanwhile, Odama’s 11 points and teammate Benard Okumu’s 10 points were the only two players with double figures for UPDF.

The result made it three games in a row without a single victory for UPDF, a dismal return.
