NEC FC bounced back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Maroons FC at Luzira Prison on Saturday.

The Prisons side lost their first home game of the season, but their assistant coach Simon Peter Ojok felt they could have done more.

“We had so many chances that we failed to utilize. The game was also not easy, but we shall try to improve in the next games. We are going back to address our areas of concern,” said Ojok.

NEC’s winning goal came in the 55th minute through Allan Mugalu, who tapped in Joseph Dhata‘s effort.

NEC had previously lost 3-0 at home to Gaddafi FC, but they have now won five of their seven games so far this season.

NEC coach Hussein Mbalangu praised the character of his players.

“We handled the game very well. Picking a result in Luzira is not easy, but we need it. We shall try to build from this in our next games,” said Mbalangu.

In Jinja, Gaddafi FC defeated Mbarara City FC 2-1. Benson Muhindo scored a penalty in the 42nd minute to give Gaddafi the lead, and Joshua Amiru scored the winner shortly after the restart of the second half.

Mbarara City equalized through Joseph Akandwanaho in the 44th minute, but it was not enough to prevent them from losing their second game of the season.
