NEC FC is strengthening its squad for the upcoming Uganda Premier League season, securing crucial contract extensions and making a series of new signings. The club, based in Bugoloobi, announced Friday that attacking midfielder Allan Mugalu has committed to the club for three more years.
Since joining NEC FC from Arua Hills in 2023, the 27-year-old has been a vital part of the squad, playing 45 games and scoring four league goals. His contract extension follows that of goalkeeper Samson Kirya, who also renewed his stay at the club.
While the club has seen the departure of some players, including Enock Ssebaggala and Rashid Okocha, their transfer activity has been proactive.
NEC FC recently completed the signing of experienced defender Warren Buule from Bright Stars on a two-year deal. The defender brings in experience with a few national team caps, great quality and a good personality, having played for only two clubs in a career spanning close to ten years.
The 27-year-old played for Buikwe Redstar before switching to BrightStars FC, where he stayed for five seasons, playing 107 league matches for the club.
In addition to Buule, the club has signed defender Mustafa Kiiza and midfielder Daniel Shabena. They’ve also brought in Charles Waibi Moses and Joseph Seremba from Big league side Kigezi Homeboyz.
With four of their six new signings unveiled in just the last three days, NEC FC is making a statement in the current transfer window, signaling their intent to build a competitive team for the season ahead.
