National Enterprise Corporation Football Club has strengthened their squad with the signing of 28-year-old midfielder Daniel Shabena from Express FC on a two-year contract.

The midfielder, who signed a two-year contract, played 885 minutes in 19 appearances for Express FC last season.

In five of the 19 games, Shabena came off the bench, while he was an unused substitute in six games. He scored only once.

Shabena is expected to fill the void left by Enock Ssebagala, who left to join Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC.

Across the eight seasons Shabena has played in the topflight, he has played 105 games, scoring 10 goals while receiving two red cards and nine bookings.

The dominant midfielder is the second player, after Mustafa Kiiza, to be officially presented by NEC FC as they are gearing up for the CAF Confederations Cup, the new Uganda Premier League, and The Uganda Cup.

In that time, Shabena has featured for three teams, starting at BUL FC, playing for two seasons, one season for Mbale Heroes, and five seasons for Express FC on two stints.
