Nepal’s women’s cricket team secured a dramatic one-wicket victory over Uganda’s Victoria Pearls, chasing down a modest target of 76 in the final over of a tense contest.

The match played with high intensity, showcased the growing competitive spirit between the two teams.

After being put into bat, Uganda managed 75/7 in 20 overs, struggling against Nepal’s disciplined bowling attack.

Immaculate Nakisuuyi (22 off 40) and Stephanie Nampiina (14 off 25) were the only batters to show some resistance.

Puja Mahato was the standout bowler for Nepal, picking up 3 wickets for just 14 runs, while Indu Barma chipped in with 2/8.

In response, Nepal faced an equally challenging time at the crease. Sana Praveen (17 off 36) and Puja Mahato (16 off 29) were the key contributors, but Uganda’s bowlers kept striking at regular intervals.

Janet Mbabazi (3/18) and Sarah Walaza (2/11) led Uganda’s fightback, taking crucial wickets to keep the game on a knife’s edge.

With seven runs required and one wicket remaining, Riya Sharma (4) and Ishwori Bist (3) held their nerve to guide Nepal home in 19.5 overs, sealing a thrilling last-over win.

This wasn’t the first time these teams played out a one-wicket thriller.

In a previous T20I series, Uganda had edged Nepal in a similar fashion.
