New Life Katereke Football Club head coach Abby Kavuma is confident his side will write a big statement against Uganda Premier League side UPDF FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The Kampala Regional League side was drawn against UPDF FC in the Round of 64 draw held at Serena Hotel Kampala on Monday, 6th January 2025.
The fixture is among the 32 matches which are scheduled to be played between 12th and 20th January with New Life Katereke being blessed to host the tie at their home, Nakivubo Blue.
After learning about the opponent Kavuma said; “It is a fair draw for us and also a good platform for our boys to display their quality. We are going to take them on at home which is also an advantage for us.
“Another thing is that we have to learn our Round of 64 opponent when we still have enough time to prepare ourselves for the game, therefore, anything can happen we can pass the hurdle despite being two divisions lower.”
The tournament which is co-sponsored by Stanbic Bank and Kansai Plascon had its full draw where top and second-tier clubs got seeded against lower divisions club.
