With the absences of most of the experienced lot for the 2023 Netball World Cup, She Cranes head coach Fred Mugerwa has been forced into making changes in the captaincy.
With skipper Peace Proscovia out due to illness, Mugerwa has promoted assistant Irene Eyaru, to the captain role for the team at the showpiece set for South Africa.
Eyaru is currently the skipper at Mugerwa’s coached side KCCA, but she also captained Uganda’s team at the 2018 World University Netball Championship in Makerere.

NIC’s Margaret Baagala will be her deputy as Mugerwa believes; “those two are senior members of the team and come with experience.”

The World Cup-bound for South Africa is set to kickstart on July 28 to August 6.
