Nile Leopards and Central Rhinos are through to the Super 4 of the Batball X tournament after both sides topped their respective groups with maximum points.
The two are joined by Rwanda Emerging and Eastern Buffalos who finished second in their respective groups.
Dominant Leopards
Nile Leopards progressed to the next round as Group B leaders while Rhinos topped Group A.
To achieve this, Leopards had to beat both Eastern Buffalos and Northern Elephants, the other group members. They did this with great ease.
The Northern Elephants fell prey to the Leopards in a fashion similar to yesterday’s as they lost the game by 45 runs.
That was after the Leopards had completed the double over Eastern Buffalos in the morning, winning the game by 7 wickets.
Paul Mulongo (44) and Timothy Muwanguzi (31) did the business for Leopards with the bat in the afternoon game while Hassan Bagaga and Joel Ibanda each with two wickets did so with the ball.
Rhinos get the job done, just about
But the game of the day was in Group A in Lugogo. It involved Central Rhinos and Rwanda Emerging.
Central Rhinos led by Yunusu Sowobi 29 not out and Anas Baig 20 had tasked their opponents to chase the 87/5 score they set.
Emerging did not shy away from the task, but came short of the accomplishment by a whisker as Rhinos won the game by 1 run.
Yves Cyusa 31 and Daniel Gumyusenge 23 had been brilliant with the bat, but Rhino’s bowling came tops, with Sowobi and Ali Balidawa each with two wickets leading in that regard.
Rwanda Emerging will take the second position well aware that they have another chance to exact revenge on their opponents.
Both Emerging and Rhinos will play against Nile Leopards and Eastern Buffalos in the round-robin in the Super 4 that will be played between Friday and Saturday.
The Super 4 will decide the final two who will play the final on Sunday.
