Uganda’s Nile Warriors are one victory away from a historic U21 Volleyball World Cup berth after sweeping Morocco 3–0 in the CAVB Men’s U20 African Championship quarterfinals on Thursday night.
At Cairo’s Hassan Mustafa Sports Arena, Uganda kept their nerve to take the sets 25–21, 25–23, and 25–21, booking a semifinal clash with Cameroon on Friday.
Head coach Joshua Osiya praised his players’ composure. “This was a big match for us,” he said.
“If we’d lost, we’d be out of the World Cup race. We’ll tighten our blocks, outputs, and serves, but we’re excited and ready.”
He urged fans to keep cheering. “Please stand behind us. Our team is in good shape, and we’re going to fight. Our game is offensive and we’ll stay aggressive.”
One player called the win “a special feeling,” crediting Uganda’s defense and blocking for the straight-sets triumph.
A semifinal victory over Cameroon would seal Uganda’s first-ever U21 World Cup appearance.
