Nkumba University coach Suleiman Bbossa has warned his team to expect a tough challenge when they host St. Lawrence University on Match Day 5 of Group E of the Pepsi University Football League.
The Entebbe-based side is currently second in the group with 7 points, five behind leaders St. Lawrence, who are still unbeaten. Nkumba need to win to keep their chances of reaching the knockout stage alive.
“St. Lawrence is a big challenge,” Bbossa said.
“They are currently one of the best teams in the league and they know their game. They play a pressing type of game and are very confident in what they do. They are also a little bit physical, so there is a good mix.”
“It is always a battle of inches against them. If you don’t do well in those close carry areas, you open up real opportunities and they will be excited to take them. So at home, we don’t intend to open up so much.”
St. Lawrence, meanwhile, are hoping to cement their qualification for the knockout stage.
Last season’s runners-up are in impressive form and will be favorites to pick up all three points from the game.
“Nkumba’s tie is a must-win for us,” said Davis Nnono, the St. Lawrence coach. “We are in a situation that denotes that we must win all our remaining matches to prove our doubters wrong.”
“We had a good win against Gulu which really energized us and has given us more confidence as we go to Entebbe to play Nkumba.”
