Head Coach Medi Nyanzi set the final as a minimal target for Kyadondo in this year’s Masaza Cup.
Last season, Kyadondo was stopped by champions Buddu in the semifinals, losing 4-1 on aggregate before losing a third-place match to Buwekula.
Going into this year’s competition, Kyadondo is one of the few teams that has maintained its head coach, along with Buwekula.
Besides keeping him as head coach, Kyadondo has already recaptured 70 per cent of their last season’s squad, as other players, including Dathan Mubiru, Joseph Kizza, and Stuart Miiro, are still pending.
With that stability, Nyanzi’s focus is to go beyond where he stopped in last year’s competition.
“Last year things failed to go the way we planned but we learnt from the failure, this season we are here to rectify, and at least we will play in the final.”
In the preparations, Kyadondo has played 9 friendlies and won 8 of them while drawing once in the process, where they scored 25 goals as they conceded 7.
Kyadondo have spent more than 15 years without reaching the Masaza Cup final ever since they won the competition in 2008, being their only final since the return Masaza Cup in 2004.
