It was a night of firsts and frustrations for the Uganda Cranes as debutant Jordan Obita earned his first cap in a tough 3-0 defeat to Cameroon in an international friendly at Stadium De Marrakech Annexe Pitch on Friday.

The match saw Cameroon dominate from the outset, controlling possession and tempo against an Ugandan side that struggled to find its rhythm.

Osasuna defender Flavien Enzo Boyomo opened the scoring in the 34th minute, expertly heading in a free kick to give the Indomitable Lions a deserved lead at halftime.

Uganda had moments of promise in the first half, with goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi making a vital save to keep the Cranes in the contest.

Forwards Mato Rogers and Kenneth Ssemakula tested Cameroon’s goalkeeper Omossola but were denied as Uganda sought an equalizer.

The second half offered little respite. Just three minutes after the restart, Jean Florent Batoum doubled Cameroon’s advantage, capitalizing on a misjudged corner by Alionzi.

Uganda introduced Patrick Jonah Kakande for Rogers to inject pace, but Cameroon’s grip on the match remained firm.

Patrick Soko completed the scoring in the 69th minute with a clinical finish inside the box, sealing an emphatic win for the West Africans.
Despite the result, there were bright spots for Uganda.

Defender Elvis Bwomono, shifted to a central role from right back, delivered a standout performance amid the defensive challenges.

Jordan Obita’s debut was a notable milestone, though the team will be looking for an improved collective showing in their next fixture.

Coach Paul Put’s side now turns its attention to Monday’s friendly against Gambia, hoping to bounce back and build cohesion ahead of future competitions.
